Business took me to the Bay area again last weekend, and this shot was captured in Fremont, CA at Palmdale Estates, where I shot a wedding. I would've preferred the sun, but you can't always win.

On the DVD Review Block: 'Last Night'

New DVD reviews is live over at DVD Verdict, and this time, I wrote up a piece about "Last Night" on Blu-ray. It's essentially a dark tale of temptation focusing on a married couple who are trying to resist hooking up with other people.

Here's a quick quote from the review: "Although clearly not a film for the masses, this little indie gem boasts a few incredibly powerful performances that make up for the occasional simplicity spreading across an otherwise engaging script.

"Keira Knightley in particular delivers one of the most enticing performances of the year, injecting 'Last Night' with just the right dose of sexiness it needs to stand out."
One of my recent DVD reviews has gone live over at DVD Verdict, and this time, I'm making a case against "Monte Carlo," a pretty shitty teen comedy starring Selena Gomez as a Texas chick who travels to Paris and gets mistaken for a wealthy British heiress and bla bla bla...

Care for an excerpt? "In a nutshell, 'Monte Carlo" can best be described as one of those movies that collapse early on and never really manage to recover from the excruciating damage caused by obvious weaknesses." Nope, this one isn't as glamorous as it looks. Read more here.

Look: working it at boulder ridge

This past weekend, work took me to the Boulder Ridge Gold Club in San Jose, and even though I'm not a golfer, I admit this private course in the hills is simply stunning. Shooting weddings has its perks, and beautiful locations is one of them.

Look: In the middle of...
A big chunk of my current work takes me to the Bay area a few times per month, and while I'm one of those people who love to drive across the country, hitting the same route over and over again does start to bug me.

Alas, the I-5 connection between L.A. and San Francisco is not particularly intriguing in terms of visuals, although I have to admit the sunsets along the mountains look pretty gorgeous, especially up North, before you reach the I-580 close to Tracy, CA.

Here is an iPhone shot from captured during my drive up there last week. It speaks for itself, and I will be witnessing one of those again the next two weekens.

Happy Halloween...

If it weren't for the Web, I would've probably forgotten about Halloween; I guess I'm having issues with dates these days. Anyway, my wife brought home two pumpkins, and for the very first time in my life, I cut one up.

It did indeed take me 27 years... Happy Halloween people. Scare hard! Oh, and before I forget, I just became a huge fan of pumpkin seeds. Random, I know, but that's how I roll. (Photo above captured with the iPhone... in my creepy home.)

'Risk' Live Show at Nerdist Theater!

Back when my wife and I took a trip to Oregon earlier this year, we spiced up the long drive by listening to the Kevin Allison-created comedy podcast "Risk." It only took one episode for us to get totally hooked, and "Risk" became a huge part of that trip.

Essentially, for those who have not heard of it yet, "Risk" is a podcast during which people (mostly funny people) tell stories they never thought they'd dare to share. Check it out; it's worth it, especially if you're seeking hilarious entertainment during long travels.

Anyway, Risk also launched live shows at one point, and yesterday, we attended our first one in L.A. at the Nerdist theater @ Meltdown Comics. The roundup included Jason Biggs, Gil Ozeri, Campbell Smith and Ptolemy Slocum.

LOOK: Kicking it in Beverly Hills

I always enjoy spending some time in Beverly Hills, which I consider one of the most gorgeous areas in Los Angeles. That said, beauty is not the only thing you will find in this town.

Sure, it's got Rodeo Dr., luxurious boutiques and all those incredibly annoying star tours and sightseeing buses rolling up and down the streets and drives, but if you get to spend some time there as a local and not a tourist, you quickly start to appreciate this place in a richer way.

Essentially, beyond the glamor of it all, you can find about anything in Beverly Hills. You'll see a horde of expensive rides lined up along the streets, but you also keep spotting cheaper, much older cars creeping up and down Canon or Beverly.

Look: A trip to Oregon

Back in June, my wife and I headed to Oregon for a week to explore the state. We've never been before, but we both enjoyed diving into the deep nature blessed by popping greens and boasting lots of rain. That said, the trip up there was sunny enough.

Finishing up my short film 'Blend'
