'Risk' Live Show at Nerdist Theater!

Back when my wife and I took a trip to Oregon earlier this year, we spiced up the long drive by listening to the Kevin Allison-created comedy podcast "Risk." It only took one episode for us to get totally hooked, and "Risk" became a huge part of that trip.

Essentially, for those who have not heard of it yet, "Risk" is a podcast during which people (mostly funny people) tell stories they never thought they'd dare to share. Check it out; it's worth it, especially if you're seeking hilarious entertainment during long travels.

Anyway, Risk also launched live shows at one point, and yesterday, we attended our first one in L.A. at the Nerdist theater @ Meltdown Comics. The roundup included Jason Biggs, Gil Ozeri, Campbell Smith and Ptolemy Slocum, and truth be told, I had a fabulous time. It takes a lot to get me to crack up, but these guys made me laugh alright.

The show was hosted by comedians Kumail Nanjiani and Pete Holmes, who delivered quite a memorable opening and threw in a few funny bits in between the "stories," which were also recorded for a future podcast. Each show boasts a theme, and last night we heard all about "spooky" experiences.

Smith launched the show with an uproarious tale about Star Jones, Slocum told a story about a family reunion when he was 13, and Ozeri shared a creepy ghost experience from his college days. Biggs wrapped it up with an extravagant helicopter/SWAT story taking place right outside his home.

Luckily, the "Risk" shows are pretty much a monthly thing now, and I'm already getting hyped up about the next performance. For now, get hooked by checking out this thing online at http://risk-show.com/
